International Committee on Mine Safety Science and Engineering Convenes for Successful Meeting
On December 14, at 9:00 pm, the Meeting of International Committee on Mine Safety Science and Engineering was held online. Prof. Xueqiu He (Chair ICMSEE) and Prof. Hani Mitri (International Chair) hosted the meeting. A total of 16 members of the committee joined participated in the meeting. Prof. Mitri and Prof. He extended a warm welcome and gratitude to all attendees for their valuable contributions.
As the secretary of the committee, Associate Professor Shengquan He presented a summary of the 6th International Symposium on Mine Safety Science and Engineering held in Harbin, China in 2023. Prof. Hani Mitri welcomed the new committee members namely Prof. Ali Mortazavi from Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan), Dr. Guangyao Si from UNSW (Australia) and Prof. Rickard Hansen from Sweco AB (Sweden). Furthermore, Prof. Hani shed light on the introduction of the new Journal of Industrial Safety.
Following that, Prof. Shimin Liu, the organizer of the upcoming 7th International Symposium on Mine Safety Science and Engineering (ISMSSE), provided an update on the event scheduled to take place in Pittsburgh, PA in 2024. He announced that the conference registration and abstract submission website are now operational.
The committee meeting for Mine Safety Science and Engineering was a resounding success. We eagerly anticipate the upcoming international conference in the USA and hope it will offer ample opportunities for the exchange of mine safety theories and technologies.
